Monday Mar 10, 2025
Mrs. Helen Furness Worthing makes a motion to appoint some women to the usher committee at Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, Seattle, immediately before the downtown church's long-anticipated dedication services. The motion coincided with noticeable progress for women through appointments to prominent positions at The Mother Church, with recognition of the fulfillment of Rev. Mary Baker Eddy's design for her church of equality of the sexes. Coincidentally, a new phase of the women's rights movement begins, starting with a proposed Equal Rights Amendment to the US Constitution.
